v8.78.1

What is software rendering?

A browser can use software rendering to draw elements to the screen when hardware rendering is unavailable. This happens when the hardware suffers from internal failure, broken or outdated drivers are installed, or the hardware has a limited featureset.

Pintura works on all browsers in the compatibility list. However due to the nature of the web and the sheer amount of devices and browsers out there it's possible someone with a limited browser will try to use the editor.

In that situation Pintura will ensure the editor stays usable by automatically:

  • Lowering the framerate to 20 frames per second (instead of 60)
  • Disabling as many animations as possible
  • Disabling the clarity finetune control
